The work of COTW-CASSCO is partly funded by OTGH. More information will follow soon.

The study was previously sponsored by Progress Trust, a partnership committed to developing the strengths and improving the quality of life of Minority communities in Manchester. The Trust was jointly founded by Manchester Training and Enterprise Council, Manchester Council for Community Relations, Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Manchester City Council.
In 1996, the Trust put forward a successful bid to the Single Regeneration Budget(SRB) to fund projects aimed at working towards the full participation of the Black and other minority communities in the regeneration of the city.

COTW attended two meetings organized by The Progress Trust:

MANCHESTER BLACK VOLUNTARY SECTOR FOCUS GROUP, held on Thursday 21st March 2002. Simone Novello [Leonardo da Vinci Student from the University of Trento and Research Associate on the COTW Project] was among the speakers. He shared the COTW aims and objectives and explained how ethnic communities and families could get involved in the development of the project. The meeting was an occasion for Simone to network with key people engaged with multiculturalism and social integration.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME- OPEN DAY. Monday 25th March 2002. Simone attended the Open Day held in the Zion Centre, Hulme. The meeting was attended both by Founders Projects and by members of organizations that are currently working on social regeneration of Manchester. The Open Day was divided in two main parts. In the morning, members of several organizations exposed aims and objectives of their projects. The organizations represented were: “COTW”, “Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relation Archive”, “The Uplift Project” and “The BME Portal Site of Manchester”. After the presentations, founders revealed their aims and rationale in financing projects, and why Bank, companies charity associations use to finance projects on social integration. In the afternoon, different workshops were set up to discuss how to make an application for funding, and the points to highlight during the process of applying for funding.

The meeting represented a fundamental occasion to meet and discuss multiculturalism with members of the ethnic communities and with people who are developing projects regarding multiculturalism. Considering the presence of ethnic communities members, Simone successfully obtained details of key people who could play a crucial role in the development of the COTW project.
