Meet the Author Day

On Friday the 6th of June Joan Riley came to St. Thomas Aquinas high school. This session was the last lesson of the project in the English Department set up by Cass Williamson in the school.

The children read the book The Unbelonging written by her. They prepared a board with related pictures and text (more pictures can be found futher down the page). They also each thought of a question to ask Joan Riley.

This event made the South Manchester Reporter, below is the article which appeared in the paper the 3rd of July.

Everyone agreed that the session went very welll. It took a while for the students to start responding to the questions Joan had but once they were allowed to ask questions theirselves they did very well. The lesson lasted for about an hour, afterwards some students asked for an autograph or a picture, then they went home. Below are more pictures of the lesson along with some comments.

As I said before the children also made a board with drawings and texts related to The Unbelonging. Below are several pictures of this board.
